Apprenticeship Illinois

What is an Apprenticeship?

An apprenticeship is a system in which workers train on-the-job while learning  a particular skill or set of skills.

Most apprenticeships can last between one and four years and provide work experience and a recognized industry credential that lasts a lifetime.

Registered Apprenticeship programs are customizable to match the employer’s needs and are highly flexible in order to always meet the employer’s changing requirements. Registered Apprenticeships benefit employers by providing a pipeline of skilled workers with industry-specific training and hands-on experience. Apprenticeships can also lower the cost of recruitment.

FACTS:

  • Every $1 spent on apprenticeships provides $1.47 back in productivity.
  • Apprenticeships help recruit and develop a highly-skilled workforce.
  • Up to $5,000 in tax credits are available.
  • They improve productivity and the bottom line while reducing turnover and increasing retention.
  • Registered apprenticeship programs create industry-driven, flexible training solutions.
